A school based in Greenwich are looking for a Humanities Teacher to join their highly successful and well-resourced Department. The role will be teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4.

The role is a full-time teaching position with responsibility for teaching SEN pupils. The post is to start in September 2019 working until the end of the academic year July 2020. The successful candidate will be able to teach English to GCSE level and have great in-depth subject knowledge, passion, commitment and dedication to demonstrate constant outstanding teaching and learning!

This position will suit a teacher who has previously worked with SEN students or students who may have had complex needs. suited to teachers who have experience working with PMLD and SLD. All students in the class will have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). As a SEN teacher, you should be able to adapt your lessons and subject material to suit each student's ability.
The SEN Teacher would:
*Work with a class of 7 pupils
*Teach and plan lessons for an SEMH class you will need experience with planning for lower level groups
*Be supported by 2 full-time teaching assistants in class
*Use proactive de-escalation techniques and follow individual therapy plans
*Teach 45-minute lessons, these may be subject specific or across all subjects depending on the year group and ability of the class
*Be responsible for ensuring all students achieve their highest potential
*Tailor the learning environment and subject material to suit individual needs


The ideal candidate to teach English in this role will:
*Hold Qualified Teacher Status
*Qualified English Teacher
*Be a qualified teacher who has worked with SEMH students

Based in Greenwich, this Ofsted rated 'good ' PRU caters for around 100 + pupils with SEND and behavioural problems. This excellent unit is currently interviewing for an English teacher looking for a long term to permanent position.
The school is located on the outskirts of Greenwich and is accessible by public transport with a bus stop located nearby but would more-so benefit someone who drives. There would be an allocated parking space for the chosen teacher.
The unit is quite small but has a small playing field and garden that the pupils are encouraged to look after. I noticed that it has a very welcoming feeling, with a strong emphasis from the teachers that everyone is treated equally and with respect.
