Tradewind Recruitment are working exclusively in partnership with an independent Jewish preparatory school in the Westminster area, who are looking to recruit a Head of English from September 2019. The role will involve leading English across the school as well as teaching an Upper Key Stage 2 class, with a roughly 50-60% teaching timetable. A competitive salary is available in line with experience (MPS 1-6 Inner London - £29,663-£40,371 plus TLR).
The Head of English is central to the school's continued success at 11+ and the successful candidate should possess a sound knowledge of the KS2 English National Curriculum and experience of preparing pupils for 11+ or Key Stage 2 SATs.
Although a primary setting, due to the English specialism element of this role, the school are open to receiving applications from primary or secondary English trained teachers.
This Jewish preparatory school seeks to imbue its' students with a love of learning of both secular and Jewish studies, with 25% of pupil timetable dedicated to Jewish studies. The school has a one form entry and roll of 175 girls and boys aged 2-11.
This Head of English and KS2 Teacher role will involve the following responsibilities:
*Take responsibility for leading
*Regularly liaise with Director of Studies on curriculum development and pupil progress within English across the school
*Plan, prepare and teach stimulating lessons to an upper Key Stage 2 class, according to the educational needs of assigned pupils, including the setting and marking of both class work and homework
*Maintain a positive learning environment through classroom management among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety
*Preparation of pupils for secondary school and selective school examinations
*Assess, record and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils

Because the school also respects the Sabbath this means that for most the year the school closes at lunchtime for students on a Friday.
The ideal candidate for this Head of English and KS2 Teacher role will be:
*A primary or secondary trained teacher with QTS or equivalent, either with an English related degree or with primary English subject leadership experience
*Open-minded, self-evaluative and adaptable to changing circumstances
*A teacher who has a willingness to be involved in the wider life of the school
*A teacher with experience of preparing students for SATs or entrance examinations such as 11+

*Hold QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification
