Humanities Teacher

An excellent school in the northern part of Bedford, with approximately 1250 students on roll. It serves a wide ranging, urban catchment area and also receives students from other parts of the town. Opened in 1973, the school offers a strong and wide-ranging curriculum to suit the needs of all its students, regardless of their ability or background.
Built on a large and pleasant campus, with extensive green spaces for sport and recreation, the buildings house well equipped classrooms and other facilities. Development of new technologies is a priority, to make best use of the latest learning resources.
Above all the staff at the school are dedicated and committed to raising standards and developing each child to reach their potential. Support for students of all backgrounds is very strong. Exam results are good, and improving, and there is a strong emphasis on academic achievement, backed up by a real knowledge of each child's individual needs.
As a teacher of Humanities, you will be required to engage and encourage pupils throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 in a highly academic, ambitious learning environment.

The school would like to receive applications from

-Teachers with experience of teaching computer science in the UK (ideally) but they will also consider applicants from overseas
-Capable and motivational teachers able to engage classrooms and meet high expectations for pupil progress and attainment

There is a commitment to developing every member of staff, reflected in a range of development activities. These include access to courses, on-site coaching and observation programmes, regular reviews, full induction programme, opportunities to contribute to whole-school initiatives, and regular opportunities to present ideas to the line manager. Performance management forms a yearly cycle with ample opportunity to discuss career aspirations and how to develop your role within the academy.

Based a vibrant and well-connected town in south Bedfordshire. Travel to London or Milton Keynes is fast via the Thameslink rail line. There is a good bus service to areas such as Luton, Hemel Hempstead as well as surrounding villages.
