Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Bromley, Secondary School

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEND is essential.
  • A valid and up-to-date DBS on the update service.
  • A commitment to providing outstanding support and encouragement to students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
  • Adaptability and patience to meet the diverse needs of students.

Responsibilities: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with SEND. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Individualised Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND, tailored to their specific needs and abilities.

  2. Assist in Planning: Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring they receive the necessary support to thrive academically and socially.

  3. Classroom Support: Work within the classroom to assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons, helping students participate and stay on task.

  4. Monitoring Progress: Track and record students' progress, providing regular feedback to both teachers and parents/carers.

  5. Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to students, fostering their self-esteem and confidence.

  6. Behaviour Management: Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, promoting a positive and safe learning environment.

  7. Resource Preparation: Prepare and adapt learning materials and resources to meet the unique needs of students.

  8. Collaborative Teamwork: Collaborate with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to ensure the best possible support for students.
