Support at this school is unique. Working with students aged 16 years old and above, you will be working in a holistic way to support independent living skills, essential life skills and community engagement. Your key focus will be empowering students with disabilities to gain vital skills for a happy and fulfilling life after school.

You will be working at a specialist SEN college based in Uxbridge, Hillingdon. The hours of work are 8.45am - 4.30pm. Students are on site Monday to Thursday, giving you Fridays off. The school are looking to trial capable SEN LSAs immediately and the role would continue until the end of the academic year.

Everything this school does is based on creating and improving opportunities for students to live their life to the fullest. Staff support students to gain work experience, have social experiences, and try new things on a regular basis. Building independence and confidence to support students as they become adults.

Students at the school have a broad range of needs including Profound and multiple learning disabilities, Moderate learning difficulties, Physical and sensory impairments, Mental health and/or emotional difficulties, Communication and behavioural difficulties, Social and communication disorders (e.g. Autistic Spectrum Disorders) and specific medical needs.

You will need to be a creative and active individual who is able to see beyond a student's disability to envision their potential and what they can achieve. Your support and help on a day to day basis will make the difference between a successful transition into life after school for the young people you work with.

All students are supported with a personal plan and timetable created just for them. The timetable will have off site activities such as work experience, community groups and sports clubs. Students are also supported by an onsite therapy team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Speech and language therapists, Physiotherapists, Music therapists, and Hydrotherapy support.

The LSA would:
*Be experienced working with PMLD and SEN learners within SEN settings
*Work according to personalised plans and timetables for each student
*Support students 1:1 and in small groups at school and offsite in the community
*Work Monday to Thursday
*Ideally be Team Teach trained and experienced in manual handling
*Be creative and passionate about disability support
*Empower young adults with disabilities to gain vital life skills for living and community engagement

The school:
*Has around 30 pupils aged 16 years and older
*Has been rated by OFSTED as Outstanding
*Class sizes of 10 pupils maximum, most classes are much smaller
*Caters for pupils with PMLD, MLD, Physical and Sensory impairments, SLD, ASD and complex needs
*Has a student timetable from Monday to Thursday with staff training days on Friday
*Is part of a wider College group with specialist sites across London

* Hold an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
