Learning Support Assistant - Pupil Referral Unit (KS3 Campus)

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our client's Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) at the KS3 campus in Fazakerley, Liverpool. This is a full-time, long-term position starting as soon as possible.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational journey of young people at the PRU. The KS3 campus operates on the principle that students can only learn effectively when their basic needs are met. The focus is on addressing physical needs, ensuring safety, promoting mental health, and fostering social and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Building positive relationships to break down barriers and encourage engagement.
  • Promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to implement individualised support plans.
  • Assisting with the development of student's self-esteem and resilience.

Requirements:

  • Empathetic and resilient with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Willingness to take on the challenges associated with working in a PRU.
  • Experience working with children or adults with SEMH/Trauma is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and diffuse tense situations.
  • Confident in building positive relationships with students.
