Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide tailored assistance to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This role requires patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to ensuring every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) under the guidance of the SENCO.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning activities to meet their individual needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to monitor student progress and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and carers as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is highly desired.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.

Benefits:

  • Opportunities for professional development and training in areas related to SEN support.
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment within a dedicated team of educators.
  • Chance to make a real difference in the lives of students by providing essential support and encouragement.
