Are you a Teacher with a wide range of SEN experience across all needs and levels? This is a role for a dynamic and skilled SEN teacher to work in a purpose built special school for pupils with complex needs.

The school supports students with a wide range of interrelated needs which include: speech, language and communication difficulties, selective mutism, higher functioning Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), specific learning difficulties e.g. dyslexia or dyspraxia, psychological difficulties (depression, de-motivation, high anxiety, OCD etc.), medical needs, physical disabilities and vulnerable pupils who, for a range of reasons, have failed to thrive in a mainstream setting.

The academic and cognitive ability of pupils is usually several years below expected attainment for their age. Students are aged 11-16 years old and the school supports a maximum of 100 students, enabling teachers to provide individualised support to each pupil and successfully meet their needs. Year 7 entry students follow a primary based model and attainment usually ranges between B-Squared Levels 1 - 3. Year 8-11 classes follow a secondary model with pupils attending lessons with subject specialists. A range of qualifications is offered to pupils including GCSE, BTEC, ASDAN, Entry and National levels.

The school aims to include students in as many aspects of school life as possible and worked with students and staff to create a best practice teaching model. Key points of the model pertinent to SEN are: that all teaching is multi-sensory (visual, auditory and kinaesthetic), teaching is differentiated and personalised, teaching is dyslexia friendly, teaching and support incorporates a variety of verbal and visual SALT strategies.

The school have also developed a wide range of teaching courses and training opportunities to support other SEN professionals with practical strategies for SEN teaching. This is a school that prides itself on providing high quality education and a nurturing environment for all.

*Work with classes of 10 pupils
*Be supported by a high level of Teaching Assistants in the class
