You will be responsible for teaching Maths to students aged 11 - 16 years of varying levels and learning needs. Pupils may have social and emotional difficulties and behavioural challenges. Classes are made up of 5 -10 pupils with at least 1 Teacher and a Teaching Assistant to support pupils. The school follows the national curriculum, breaking learning down into small steps and personalised targets for each pupil. With a high commitment to inclusion and equality, you will be experienced in adapting your lessons to ensure students of all abilities and levels can engage with the mathematics curriculum. Students who can attain the required levels and who demonstrate a higher ability are also offered the opportunity to study at GCSE level.
There are currently 10 secondary classes within the department. 5 of these are classes supporting pupils with complex needs, 3 are highly structured environment and 2 are nurture classes. All teachers employ a range of teaching approached to meet pupils' individual needs and promote independence through active learning.

You will be working within incredible new school buildings and grounds. New facilities include dedicated subject rooms for science, art, food technology, music and a library. There are sensory rooms, a therapy suite and life skills as well as separate dining rooms for Primary and Secondary pupils. Outdoors, students can now enjoy large grass playing fields, designated playgrounds for Early Years, Primary and Secondary pupils, a sensory playground, reflection garden and horticultural eco garden. There is also a large staff car park on site.
The Teacher would have:
*QTS and a relevant qualification in Maths
*SEN teaching experience with evidence of outstanding classroom practice
*The ability to be able to manage complex and challenging pupil behaviour.
