The Location:
Located in South Woodford - Redbridge, this Junior School can be accessed by the A406 and M11 if driving, and the closet tube station is Woodford. The school is close to numerous bus stops on the next-door road so there are many options for staff travelling to school.

The School:
This Redbridge school holds a huge amount of History and has been open since the 1800s. The school has recently been rebuilt to provide high quality accommodation for students learning. Ofsted has rated this school as 'Outstanding' across every category, and pupils reach very high levels in reading, writing and in maths. The school offers a harmonious environment for its pupils and they happily communicate with others in the school and bullying records are very low. Staff work well with each other and have strong relationships with both pupils and parents. The curriculum at the school is rich and varied and pupils benefit from stimulating lessons that teachers and assistants provide.

The Candidate - Skills Required:
*Understand and apply instructions from the SLT in respect of the supervision and control of pupils during the midday break.
*Relate positively to pupils, dealing with them patiently, firmly and with good humour.
*Understand the importance of the school meal, and the lunch break being a social and educational occasion.
*Relate positively both to all staff at the school and work co-operatively with other people as part of a team.
*Use initiative to judge when advice/assistance is needed to meet pupil's needs and to react calmly and quickly in any emergency.
*Understanding of the Authority's policies in health and safety, equal opportunities and pupils disciplinary provisions.

The Role:
*To take responsibility for the supervision of pupils during their lunch break, in the dining hall, about the school premises and in the play areas.
*To apply the school behaviour policy to effectively manage children and resolve any incidents, enabling all children to enjoy their lunch break.
*Assisting, as directed, with arrangements for the administration of the taking of the school meal and supporting the Authority's policies regarding school meals provision (i.e. healthy eating and ethnic meals etc).
*To lead children in active play and exercise, encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
*To work specifically with children with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis.

All applicants for this long term and full time Midday Supervisor role must have experience working with children in a previous setting but it does not have to be within a school.

This Midday Supervisor position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas police Clearances and professional reference checks. Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
