Are you a talented teacher with a genuine passion for and understanding of SEN? This is a unique opportunity to work outside the framework of the national curriculum and centre your work on empowering students with disabilities to gain vital skills for a happy and fulfilling life after school.

I'm currently working with a specialist SEN college based in Uxbridge, Hillingdon. The hours of work are 8.45am - 4.30pm. Students are on site Monday to Thursday and staff training takes place on Friday. This role is to start immediately and would continue for the duration of the academic year. Working Monday to Thursday with students, you would be responsible for creating individualised plans for each of your students according to their EHCP.

The ethos of this college is entirely based on creating and improving opportunities for students. Building independent life and work skills, creating social and vocational opportunities and providing a safe learning environment for students to grow and thrive.

Students supported here have a wide range of needing including Profound and multiple learning disabilities, Moderate learning difficulties, Physical and sensory impairments, Mental health and/or emotional difficulties, Communication and behavioural difficulties, Social and communication disorders (e.g. Autistic Spectrum Disorders) and specific medical needs. Students are aged 16 years and above and have often graduated from an SEN secondary school in the area.

Creativity, organisation and strong differentiation skills will be essential to success in this position as all students are supported with their own individualised plan. Schemes of work will be tailored to meet the abilities and needs of each pupil and may include off site activities such as work experience, community groups and sports clubs. Students are also supported by an onsite therapy team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Speech and language therapists, Physiotherapists, Music therapists, and Hydrotherapy support.

The PMLD Lecturer would:
*Be experienced working with PMLD and SEN learners within SEN settings
*Create personalised plans and timetables for each student
*Coordinate a team of teaching assistants to ensure on site and off-site provision flows smoothly
*Work with their class Monday to Thursday and engage in staff training on Friday
*Ideally be Team Teach trained and experienced in manual handling
*Be creative and passionate about disability support
*Empower young adults with disabilities to gain vital life skills for living and community engagement

The school:
*Has around 30 pupils aged 16 years and older
*Has been rated by OFSTED as Outstanding
*Class sizes of 10 pupils maximum, most classes are much smaller
*Caters for pupils with PMLD, MLD, Physical and Sensory impairments, SLD, ASD and complex needs
*Has a student timetable from Monday to Thursday with staff training days on Friday
*Is part of a wider College group with specialist sites across London
