Are you a secondary teacher or SEN teacher with QTS, and experience teaching children with autism, interested in teaching secondary aged students with special needs?

Tradewind are currently recruiting for a qualified Secondary SEN Teacher to work at a special needs school in Camberwell, Southwark .The role is full time and will run at least until July 2021 but has potential to extend for September and the rest of the academic year.

The role is teaching a range of Secondary classes or bubbles from key stage 3 to key stage 4 - In Key Stage 3 the pupils start the day with Literacy and Numeracy. subjects such as Social Communication and Lego therapy, as well as the full range of National curriculum subjects are taught on a daily basis. All the Key stage 3 pupils have regular swimming lessons in addition to their PE lessons. In Key Stage 4 pupils work towards a variety of accreditation including Entry Level and Functional Skills.

All of the schools pupils have severe or moderate learning disabilities (SLD/MLD) and come from a mix of Southwark Primary and Special schools. The school is oversubscribed. In addition to the teaching staff one full time and one part-time Speech and Language therapist, one day a week Occupational therapy, Family worker and a Full-time work experience coordinator. The school also has strong links with CAMHS, the School Nursing Service and with the Early Help team. The pupils have a range of needs, including: Complex medical needs, Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Speech, Language and Communication difficulties, ADHD and Physical disabilities so an experienced teacher amongst these needs is a necessity.

The school is easily accessible by several popular bus routes and is a short bus journey to 2 nearby central line tube stations and 2 overground stations.

Essential requirements:

-QTS, qualified teacher status.

-Experience planning and teaching lessons to primary aged students following the National Curriculum.

-Experience with SEN, specifically autism, both verbal and non-verbal and other speech, language and communication needs.

-Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, specifically Social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

-Enthusiastic, resilient and positive approach.

-Must have legal right to work in the UK.
