An opportunity has presented to work in a Year 1 class in a wonderful two-form entry school in Hyde, Tameside. This is full-time class teacher role beginning April 2021 and will run until the end of the academic year.

As the Year 1 teacher, you will be working in a two-form, OFSTED rated 'Good' school in a popular suburb of Tameside. With an average class size of only 22 pupils, there is a huge opportunity and expectation to develop strong pupil relationships where educational potential is maximised at every level.

This is a mixed-ability class so you will be required to differentiate activities to both scaffold and stretch learners and support the continuous provision approach adopted by the school. The successful candidate will be competent delivering Read Write Inc whilst using supplemental resources to support the writing phase. A full time teaching assistant will also join you in the class so the ability to build a strong partnership and communicate effectively to achieve intended outcomes will be crucial to your success.

As the Year 1 teacher, your responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Undertake full class teaching responsibilities for a year 1 class
  • Build a positive rapport with all pupils based on trust and mutual respect and monitor children's social and emotional wellbeing
  • Thoroughly plan and deliver engaging lessons that motivate and inspire learners supporting a continuous provision method
  • Adopt a creative curriculum approach with activities that cater for visual, audio and kinaesthetic learning preferences
  • Deliver the Read Write Inc phonics scheme with fidelity and use supplemental resources to support the writing phase
  • Plan targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy to bridge gaps in learning and accelerate pupil progress
  • Review, report and reflect on daily practice to inform future planning and improve educational outcomes

During the schools recent OFSTED inspection, it was praised for positive school-wide behaviour as a result of consistent, effective structures. The school has made significant growth in reading and writing across KS1 and this success was largely due to the experienced Headteacher and passionate team of staff who work extremely hard to achieve desired goals.This is an exciting opportunity to join supportive team and you will receive in house CPD which supports best practice.

This position would suit an enthusiastic and motivated Year 1 teacher eager to achieve and make a valuable contribution to the school. The school benefits from a large car park and also has convenient transport links just a short distance away. To be considered for position as a Year 1 teacher you must:

  • Hold QTS certification (or an equivalent).
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks. Or be happy to undertake a new DBS through us
  • Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
