About the Role

As the Year 1 teacher, you will be responsible for the progress and attainment of approximately 30 pupils (with a large percentage of children working at or above expectations). There will be an expectation to develop strong pupil relationships where educational potential is maximised at every level.

As the Year 1 teacher, your responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Undertake full class teaching responsibilities for a year 1 class and adhere to behaviour, assessment and safeguarding policies
  • Thoroughly plan and deliver engaging lessons that motivate and inspire learners
  • Adopt the continuous provision approach in place at the school and provide tasks that allow for enquiry and exploration both in and beyond the classroom setting
  • Build a positive rapport with all pupils based on mutual respect use Class Dojo as an effective behaviour management tool and communication portal with families
  • Review, report and reflect on daily practice to inform future planning and improve educational outcomes and document individual pupils progress using Classroom Monitor
  • Deliver the letters and sounds phonics scheme with fidelity
  • Plan targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy to bridge gaps in learning and accelerate pupil progress
  • Continually monitor pupils personal, social and emotional wellbeing.

To be considered for position as a Year 1 teacher you must:

  • Hold QTS (or an equivalent teaching qualification).
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks. Or be happy to undertake a new DBS through us
  • Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and employment breaks must be explained
  • Have excellent references to support previous experience in a KS1 setting
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
