Tradewind are recruiting! We are looking for an experienced Year 6 Teaching Assistant for a fantastic role in the Oldham area.

On behalf of our partner school, we are currently recruiting an outstanding Teaching Assistant for a Year 6 role at a very popular school in Oldham. The role will start in May 2021 and you will be required for a minimum of 2 terms, so the school will be looking for a commitment until at least December 2022. This is to cover a maternity leave so depending on the Teaching Assistant return, the role could be extended to the 2022. The salary for this role will be competitive and will be based on your experience and suitability for the role.

As the Year 6 class Teaching Assistant, you will be working in a 2-form, Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' school in a popular suburb of Oldham. You will be working within a school which has a strong child centred culture and is very popular within the local area.

As you will be working in the Year 6 class, you will be taking on this position at a crucial time of the academic year. This school has consistently strong SATS results. Due to the current pandemic you will not be required to support your class through SATS this year, but you will be responsible for bridging the learning gap in preparation for next year.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teaching with the KS2 National Curriculum.
  • Lead small group interventions for Literacy, Numeracy and Phonics
  • Provide 1:1 support for children when required.
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils, as well as their personal and social needs.
  • Teaching a balanced curriculum and ensuring that each child fulfils his or her potential by providing high levels of teaching standards.

As you will be treated like a member of staff, you will have full access to the schools in house CPD as well as the support of an established senior leadership team.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience working in a School or similar setting for min 3 months
  • Degree qualified or completed relevant courses
  • Available on a full-time basis and can commit for at least 1 year
  • A passion for education and supporting children with academic studies
  • Live locally in Oldham
  • Experience in Keys Stage 2 is essential in this role
