You will be working in a truly excellent school, that is entirely focused on ensuring that the students educational, and personal needs are catered for. Being the very centre of the community, you will be working with a close knit team, who are extremely supportive of all staff members. Having worked with this school for a number of years, I can truly say that it is an outstanding place to work, with a wonderful Humanities department. This a comprehensive 11-16 school, so experience teaching A level students is not essential for this position. You will have GCSE classes on your timetable, so we are looking for a trueRE specialist who has experience teaching the new GCSE specification. Ideally, we are looking for a practitioner who has experience working towards the AQA specification, but this is by no means essential for this role.
In terms of your teaching timetable, you will predominantly be teaching Key Stage 3 RE, but there will be at least one Year 10 class on the timetable. As there is not quite a full teaching timetable on offer, there will be room on the timetable for one other humanities subject (either Geography or History), and you will be expected to teach this humanities subject to Key Stage 3. There is a strong preference for this to be History, just due to current timetabling, but there is still room for this to be Geography. Having worked with the school for a number of years, I can say first hand how enjoyable a place to work it is, and how much people enjoy working there. This is a school that is continually improving, and is making strides towards outstanding.
