Teacher of Religious Studies
Grade: UQ/NQT/MPS/UPS
1 Year contract
September 2020
Tradewind Recruitment are looking for an exceptional Teacher of Religious Education to work within an Ofsted rated 'Good' 11 to 18 academy located near Bromley. The role is a year-long contract to begin as soon as possible.
You will work within a department which currently has four full-time specialists and one part-time specialist. The students you will work with come from a variety of religious and non-religious backgrounds. Academic standards are high and results are excellent. Colleagues use a range of teaching methods, with an emphasis on encouraging reflection, discussion and evaluation of different philosophical and ethical approaches to religious issues. As a Teacher of Religious Education you will have access to a range of teaching material available, including: course books for all year groups, internet-based resources including access to video material and access to a well-stocked library.
Pupils can opt for GCSE (AQA) Religious Studies in Christianity, Hinduism and a variety of philosophical and ethical themes, including medical ethics, the existence of God, relationships, and social justice. There are three groups in each year with 15-20 pupils in each group. Pupils who do not choose to take the GCSE follow a short course in Philosophy and Ethics.
We are looking for:
*A Teacher of Religious Education with the dedication to make a real contribution to the work of a caring and continually improving school.
*A motivated, talented, inventive teacher who is committed to raising attainment
*A teacher who strives for excellence and has a passion for student achievement
*A candidate with the desire to develop professional skills within a supportive learning community
What this school offers:
*An encouragement for innovative teaching
*An aim to nurture teachers who are passionate about their subjects and who seek to teach exciting lessons which engage learners
*An assessment model that encourages development rather than a strict approach to graded lessons
*CPD which ensures staff work together to improve their practice
*A high expectations culture which supports teachers in managing behaviour effectively through strong systems
To be successful in this role you will need to:
*Be a Teacher of Religious Education with QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification.
*Have excellent knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum.
*This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
*Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
*You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
