School Assistant Caretaker - Incredible SEMH School
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you skilled in caretaking and maintenance tasks? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at an incredible SEMH school as a School Caretaker.
At Tradewind Education Recruitment, we specialize in connecting exceptional education professionals with schools that cater to diverse student needs. We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to fill the role of School Caretaker in an outstanding SEMH school.
Position: School Caretaker School Type: Incredible SEMH School Working Hours: 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (Monday to Friday)
Responsibilities:
- Premises Maintenance: Ensure the school premises are clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times.
- Security: Implement appropriate security measures to safeguard the school premises and property.
- Health and Safety: Carry out regular health and safety checks, reporting any issues to the appropriate staff members and taking necessary action to address them.
- General Repairs: Perform basic maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical tasks, or coordinate with external service providers when needed.
- Equipment and Supplies: Monitor and maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring they are organized and readily available.
- Room Setups: Prepare classrooms, meeting rooms, and other areas for various activities, ensuring they are appropriately arranged and equipped.
- Groundskeeping: Oversee the upkeep of outdoor spaces, including gardening, litter picking, and snow clearing during inclement weather.
- Liaison: Communicate and liaise effectively with school staff, contractors, and external service providers.
- Events Support: Assist with the setup and breakdown of events, ensuring facilities and equipment are ready and available as required.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous caretaking or maintenance experience is desirable.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work afternoon and evening shifts, Monday to Friday.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and carry out manual handling duties.
- Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills to identify maintenance and repair needs.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected situations and troubleshoot maintenance issues.
- Communication: Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, students, and external stakeholders.
- Compliance: Awareness of health and safety regulations and the ability to implement them.
