Tradewind are working with a modern, progressive Watford academy seeking a Business Manager to start ASAP and continue to the end of the school year, with a permanent contract possible for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will be involved in both a strategic and hands on activity, under the guidance of the Principal and with support from theTrust Business Manager. You will take responsibility for the school's business affairs, including financial management, human resources, IT, school administration and facilities management. The successful candidate will have an important role in developing highly effective and structured systems and processes in order to support the Principal, the staff team and Governors in their accountability to the West Herts Schools Trust (WHST).

KEY TASKS
*To provide support to the school's administrative and premises staff,
*To prepare, manage and monitor the school's financial accounts,
*To ensure the effective functioning of all areas of the school office,
*To ensure the SCR and HR records for LCFS are kept up to date,
*To provide leadership and management to the school's admin team and Site Manager

FINANCE
*Prepare the annual estimates of income and expenditure for approval by the Principal and Governors
*Prepare any work as requested by ARCFS and WHST and attend relevant meeting with School or Trust Committees,
*Obtain agreement of budgets and monitor them against accounts,
*Prepare regular management accounts for budget holders and report on the financial state of the school to the Principal and Governors
*Advise the Principal and governors on financial policy, preparing appraisals for particular projects
*Use financial management information, especially benchmarking tools to analyse trends and identify opportunities for greater efficiency
*Manage school accounting function effectively to agreed procedures and maintain those procedures by conducting an annual review
*Maintaining an assets register and preparation of invoices and collection of fees and other dues, taking legal action where necessary to recover bad debts
*Provide detailed management accounts for the Principal and Governors according to an agreed schedule,
*Maximise income generation within the ethos of the school
*Ensure best value principles are adopted
*Act as a central point of contact with central and other agencies with regard to grant applications, gifts and other donations
*Secure bid-based competitive funds by effective use of bidding systems and contracts
*Negotiate, manage and monitor contracts, tenders and agreements for the provision of support services,
*Seek professional advice on insurance and advise the Principal and Governors on the appropriate insurances for the school,
*Implement the approved insurances and handle any claims that arise.

The essentials
Must have previous experience in school-based finance, preferably in a managing role
* This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
* Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
* You must have the legal right to work in the UK
