Tradewind Recruitment are currently working alongside a 'good' mixed secondary school located in the London borough of Merton who are looking to appoint a caretaker ASAP. The role will be full-time, long-term and will be working alongside the Estates Manager. The pay is competitive.
The successful candidate will ensure the provision of a safe, clean, attractive learning environment, as part of a team undertaking responsibility for the maintenance, security, health, and safety of the academy site (including grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment), ensuring that they operate efficiently and effectively.
Facilities Support -
 Provide a broad range of facilities support in an efficient and effective manner  Unlocking and locking of all school buildings and areas  Act as a key holder being part of the call-out team to intruder alarm activations and other out of hours emergencies  Ensure school facilities are opened and closed at the required times throughout the school term and during holiday periods  To be pro-active around the site to identify defects  Undertake the completion, recording and tracking of all allocated tasks in line with the Merton Schools demarcation matrix related to the PFI contract  Log, prioritise and action tasks using the Helpdesk ticketing system  Log items on the PFI Helpdesk as required  Provide support for school meetings and events including setting up of furniture, equipment and hospitality  Ensuring a safe environment for the stakeholders of the school to provide a secure environment in which due learning processes can be provided  Oversee contractors who are on site ensuring they comply with H&S regulations and school policies  Assist the Site Manager with ensuring that all site documentation is in place including ensuring records of on-site checks and inspections are passed to the site manager  Ensure that pathways and all other external hard surfaces are kept clean and free of litter and that they are gritted/salted as required  Cover for absence and sickness of other members of the team as required
Maintenance -
 Undertake routine maintenance and repair schedules in line with school and PFI requirements  Supervise maintenance contractors and undertake regular site inspections  Identify defects and record repair and maintenance requirements  Undertake cleaning tasks as required  Undertake appropriate repairs and redecoration as required
The candidate will -
- Have basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislations and requirements
- Knowledge of maintenance and security systems
- Understanding of appropriate cleaning methods and standards
- Considerable DIY experience
