Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join a dynamic secondary school near Grimsby. This role offers an immediate start and provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting the teaching and learning of Science.
Job Overview: As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing equipment and resources for demonstration, class practical work, assessments, and examinations. Working collaboratively with departmental staff, your responsibilities will include setting up equipment in a laboratory environment, ensuring the safe disposal of chemicals, and taking responsibility for radioactive materials (training provided). You will also be involved in stock-taking, retrieving and storing equipment, and handling any additional duties deemed necessary by the Science Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up equipment for practical lessons in the laboratory
- Safely dispose of chemicals and manage radioactive materials
- Conduct stock-taking and maintain equipment inventory
- Collaborate with departmental staff to support high-quality teaching and learning
- Adhere to Health and Safety Regulations, with a good working knowledge of COSHH & CLEAPSS
- Perform any other duties as required by the Science Department
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience as a Science Technician in an educational setting
- Good working knowledge of COSHH & CLEAPSS
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff
- Commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment
Remuneration: The pay for this role is between £90 and £110 per day.
