Tradewind Recruitment is on the lookout for a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join an inspiring school in Cardiff. Roles and Responsibilities:
Supportive Classroom Presence:
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist the teacher in delivering engaging lessons that cater to individual needs.
Behaviour Management:
- Utilise effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
- Implement individualised behaviour plans and interventions.
Mental Health Support:
- Provide one-on-one support to students experiencing mental health challenges.
- Collaborate with the school's mental health team to implement appropriate interventions.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Attend meetings and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Record Keeping:
- Keep accurate records of student progress and behaviour incidents.
- Monitor and report any changes in a student's emotional or mental well-being.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a similar role.
- Understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges in a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs.
