Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young individuals? Tradewind Recruitment is on the lookout for a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join an inspiring school in Cardiff. If you possess previous experience in handling challenging behaviour and mental health concerns, we want to hear from you!

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Supportive Classroom Presence:

    • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Assist the teacher in delivering engaging lessons that cater to individual needs.
  2. Behaviour Management:

    • Utilise effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
    • Implement individualised behaviour plans and interventions.
  3. Mental Health Support:

    • Provide one-on-one support to students experiencing mental health challenges.
    • Collaborate with the school's mental health team to implement appropriate interventions.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
    • Attend meetings and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  5. Record Keeping:

    • Keep accurate records of student progress and behaviour incidents.
    • Monitor and report any changes in a student's emotional or mental well-being.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a similar role.
  2. Understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges in a school setting.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively manage challenging situations.
  5. Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs.
