Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a dynamic SEN Art teacher in the Wandsworth area of London?
Tradewind are currently recruiting for a SEN Art Teacher for a Special Needs school in Wandsworth. The role is full time and will start from September on a long term basis for the full academic year at least until July 2021 and will most likely become permanent for the right candidate.
SEN School
The school is an Ofsted rated Good school providing for students aged 9-19 with a range of needs including ASD autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia and ADD/ADHD. At least 50% of the students are diagnosed with ASD. The school itself is very small with under 50 students, allowing for small class sizes (5-8) in order to support the students' progress more effectively.
The main responsibility of the role is to teach Art to all classes within the full age range as the successful candidate would be the only Art teacher at the school. As the school is fairly small, teachers are asked to be flexible and often teach more than one subject across the curriculum.
The students at the school have a wide range of abilities, some of whom are learning at entry level whereas others study GCSEs and diplomas recognised by UK universities, so the curriculum is varied, meaning the successful candidate should be happy and comfortable planning and leading lessons suitable for the full range of student abilities. The school also teaches functional skills, levels and vocational subjects according to each student's needs.
The school is within walking distance from 2 well connected overground stations and is easily accessible by a number of bus routes.
Essential requirements:
QTS (or equivalent) is preferable however experienced unqualified teachers are welcome to apply.
Previous experience teaching art across a range of academic levels and ages.
Experience with planning lessons for and teaching classes of SEN students.
Flexible and teach more than one subject.
Must have legal right to work in the UK.
