Tradewind Recruitment Leicester are recruiting for special needs Teaching Assistants for an oversubscribed special needs school supporting 4 - 19 year olds with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. The roles are full time and long term, commencing ASAP.

We are looking for:

- Candidates with a varied background within special needs e.g severe learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, profound and multiple learning difficulties and highly complex need.
- Passionate and enthusiastic support workers with a calming approach
- A committed practitioner who will go above and beyond

The role:

- To plan and provide specialist support to pupils with identified disabilities, SEN, sensory impairments and complex needs to access a broad and balanced curriculum of education by modifying and adapting learning activities as appropriate.
- To maintain accurate records and assist in administrative tasks.
- To assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment using detailed
specialist knowledge.
- To support the aims and ethos of the School/Unit, Special Needs Teaching Service and College.
- To set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
- To support parents and enable them to understand their children's complex needs and give
sound advice in regards of their child's education.
- To use teaching and learning objectives to plan, evaluate and adjust lessons and work plans within agreed systems of supervision
- To attend to pupils' personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating as well as providing help with social, welfare and health matters
- To be proactive in matters relating the Health & Safety, Child protection/safeguarding and
administration of medication/ First Aid etc.
- To provide appropriate supervision to individuals or groups in a variety of settings
School/College, Pupils home environment or unit monitoring their conduct and behaviour
- To liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide specialist support and advice to meet the needs of the pupils, including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews.
- To share and adopt best practice and specialist training with other staff.
- To implement and promote Leicester City Council's and School/colleges, units, SNTS policies and procedures relating to all areas of employment and service delivery.
- To undertake work and responsibilities in line with the training and development agency.

- Teaching Assistant/SEN qualifications or one year + experience in a similar role
- This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
- Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
- You must have the legal right to work in the UK
