Tradewind are currently recruiting for an outstanding SEN teacher for a superb ASC and MLD school in Barnet. The role is a part-time teaching position (3-4 days per week) with responsibility for teaching SEN pupils. The post is to start January 2020 working until the end of the year, with the potential for it to continue into the new academic year.
This position is best suited to teachers who have experience working with Autism (ASC) and MLD working with KS1 and KS2. All students in the school will have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) for ASC or MLD. As a SEN teacher, you should be able to adapt your lessons and subject material to suit each student's ability.
The SEN Teacher would:
*Work with a class of 4-6 pupils
*Teach pupils with complex needs and Autism (ASC)
*Pupils are mostly non-verbal and as such you will be required
*Be supported by a team of full-time teaching assistants in class
*Use proactive de-escalation techniques and follow individual therapy plans
*Be responsible for ensuring all students achieve their highest potential
*Tailor the learning environment and subject material to suit individual needs
*Work closely with senior leadership and your team of support staff
The ideal candidate for this SEN Teacher role will:
*Hold Qualified Teacher Status
*Be a qualified teacher, comfortable teaching both at functional skills and foundation level.
*Be experienced in, or comfortable working in an environment with students with autism, with a variety of special needs, who present challenging behaviour.
