Every aspect of the centre has been considered with the needs of the children in mind. Each class has one class teacher and 2 full time teaching assistants. Whilst Centre pupils receive support at the Centre, each student is also assigned a mainstream class and supported to integrate with the support of a familiar adult each day until they can do so independently.
The Centre staff follow the national curriculum and differentiate according to the levels of the pupils. Subjects taught are: English, Maths, PSED and communication and social skills. There is a focus on life skills and pupils are regularly supported on school trips into the local community. A TEACCH approach is central to the work of staff in the Centre. Training in this approach is highly desired in applicants.
