COVID-19 notice: We're continuing to recruit education staff throughout these unprecedented times, as we can still get you registered and cleared, ready for when schools re-open. Tradewind are currently recruiting for a SEN ASC (autism spectrum condition) teacher for a Special Needs secondary school in Hammersmith and Fulham. The role is full time and will start from September on a maternity cover contract for the full academic year until July 2021 and will most likely become permanent for the right candidate. If an applicant was available sooner, there is also an option to start the role after this May half term.

The school is a Good school (Ofsted May 2019) and has had excellent Challenge Partners QA reviews recently. It caters for secondary aged students with EHCPs covering SLCN (speech, language and communication needs), learning and cognition difficulties and complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health issues. The leadership are very supportive of new staff in terms of CPD, coaching and mentoring. There are 110 students on roll so it is a fairly small school which has the advantage of feeling like a family and the school's leadership try to run it in that style.
The role is to teach a small Key Stage 3 class with 7 full time learners. You would be supported by an HLTA and 2 TAs as some of the children have challenging behaviour as a result of their ASC (autism spectrum condition), ADHD and anxiety.
The curriculum is based on developing independent living and employability whilst ensuring students have strong functional literacy and numeracy skills. The school prioritises skills for life and work, including relevant accreditation and work experience and there are BTECs delivered to years 10 and 11.

The school is within walking distance from 2 tube stations and is easily accessible by a number of bus routes.

Essential requirements:
QTS (or equivalent) and previous experience teaching ASC students in Key Stage 3. Must have legal right to work in the UK.
