Based in Hillingdon, the school supports children aged 3-11 years of age. Each child at the school has a statement of a severe learning difficulty, physical and/or complex needs, including Autism. The school's philosophy is to focus on the 'whole child,' using a combined multi-professional team alongside the teaching team to integrate education with therapy utilizing a wide range of interventions. The therapy team works with students through art therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy.
To start immediately, the position is open to experienced and newly qualified teachers as well as mainstream teachers who are new to SEN. You will be working withing a Specialist SEN setting supporting students with a high level of need. Most students have a diagnosis of a Severe Learning Difficulty, Complex Needs and may also have a physical disability. Knowledge of non-verbal communication techniques and familiarity with the EYF framework or supporting lower ability students is highly desirable in this role. The school is known for its positive culture and learning environment, where students are supported to be happy, safe and stimulated throughout their learning day. There is a huge emphasis on team work throughout the school, with staff combining expertise to ensure individualised, comprehensive and consistent support is provided to all pupils. The school is well equipped to support pupils with a broad and inclusive curriculum as well as facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory integration suite, nature trail, adventure trail, purpose-built therapy rooms and the use of two minibuses for social and educational visits. They also have fantastic induction and training opportunities for all staff, this is a role where you will develop your skill set and grow in your abilities.
The Teacher would:
*Be responsible for general classroom organisation including directing Teaching Assistants
*Set clear aims and objectives for each student in the class, offering individualised and inclusive learning opportunities.
*Maintain all school records and student portfolios, assessing children's progress throughout the year
*Liaise with the multidisciplinary team, other schools and agencies and promote a holistic team approach to the education of all students
*Communicate regularly with parents and involve them in their child's education
