We are looking for a passionate and caring Primary Teacher keen to continue or begin their SEN career. The position is open to experienced and newly qualified teachers as well as mainstream teachers who are new to SEN. This SEN School in Hillingdon supports children with severe learning difficulties and physical and complex needs, including autism.
The school is known for its positive culture and learning environment, where students are supported to be happy, safe and stimulated throughout their learning day. There is a huge emphasis on team work throughout the school, therapy and support teams work closely with teaching teams to ensure individualised, comprehensive and consistent support is provided to all pupils. The school really embraces the multidisciplinary approach. All students are encouraged to develop independent learning skills and reach their full potential.
The school is well equipped to support SEN learners with specialist resources and facilities. Many students at the school have a physical disability as well as a severe learning disability and/or complex needs. Teachers need to be creative, hands on and able to differentiate learning material to each child's individual level. Many children will be working at the earliest foundations of learning and there is a large focus on building confidence, communication skills and skills for living.
The Teacher would:
*Teach a class of 5-10 pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties, Complex Needs and/or physical disabilities
*Have experience working with SEN learners in a Special School (desired but not essential)
*Be able to use a range of approaches including non-verbal communication
*Maintain all school records and student portfolios, assessing children's progress throughout the year
*Liaise with the multidisciplinary team, other schools and agencies and promote a holistic team approach to the education of all students
*Communicate regularly with parents and involve them in their child's education
The School has:
*100 plus SEN pupils
*Primary aged pupils 3-11 years old, with severe learning difficulties and physical and complex needs, including autism
*Fantastic facilities and extensive grounds with well-equipped classrooms, play areas for all ranges, a nature trail, a sensory room, a soft play room, the use of a hydrotherapy pool, an interactive learning centre, a library, a creative therapy room, art and technology, rooms, the use of 2 minibuses and a brand new sensory garden
*Family Services to support families with social activities and assistance outside the classroom
*An onsite multi-disciplinary team including arts therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy
