The school is seeking a calm, patient and perseverant teaching assistant. The role will involve 1:1 support for a child who is Year 2, who is autistic. He works in class for most of the day, with some sessions working one to one elsewhere in the school. The school likes to vary teaching assistant roles in the school, so there may also be some general TA work attached to the role.

He is a very likeable boy in Year 2, who works well when he has routines to follow. He loves reading and drawing and these are great activities to encourage other areas of learning. He sometimes gets frustrated in class but behaviour is generally good. His parents are very supportive of the school and like to be very involved, so you will need to be a good communicator as you will be feeding back progress regularly. This will be a really interesting, varied role.

The school is unable to confirm the length of the role as he may be transferring to another school at some point, so someone who can be flexible would be ideal. The Headteacher anticipates that he will be in school until at least Christmas.


Your hours of work will be 8.30am- 4.00pm with 45 minutes for lunch, with a daily rate of £70- £80, depending on experience.

The school is a 15-minute walk from the nearest train station and is easy to get to by bus, with parking nearby.

*Ideally have at least one years' experience working in a school
*Previous experience working with SEN children
*Be able to set clear boundaries and expectations of behaviour
*You must have the right to work in the UK
