SEN Teaching Assistant
Tradewind are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team in a primary school based in Mosley, Birmingham. Specifically, you would be working 1:1 with a year 2 child with Autism and dyslexia. The successful candidate will support the Teacher in providing an outstanding education to individual children with special educational needs (SEN) and behaviour issues.
Location: Mosley, Birmingham (B13)
The school is a two-form entry setting which caters to children who come from many different backgrounds, and they believe that this is a strength of the school as it reflects the social and cultural diversity that is to be found in Birmingham. They have a strong commitment to improving standards across all areas and are looking for staff who are prepared and willing to push themselves to help ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest quality.
Responsibilities:
Support the teacher in planning, delivering and assessing lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
Work with individual children and small groups, providing differentiated support and encouragement to meet their specific needs.
Use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism, such as visual aids, social stories and sensory activities.
Assist in developing children's communication, social, emotional and behavioural skills.
Work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
Help to maintain accurate records and progress reports to inform ongoing planning and assessment.
Requirements:
Experience of working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism.
Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and how to effectively support children with autism in the classroom.
Ability to use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals.
Highly organised with good record-keeping skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a positive, flexible and proactive attitude.
