A leading, well established SEN Secondary School in Bury is looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant in one of their PMLD classrooms.

They are in need of a TA with a can-do attitude, who can get on with their work efficiently and happily. You will be working with 7 children with a range of PMLD and medical needs, alongside the class teacher and another teaching assistant.

The successful applicant will have PMLD/SEN experience, as well as the motivation to work hard and work with the team to keep the children happy, safe and comfortable. Some of these children have severely complex needs and medical requirements.

The role will involve assisting the class teacher with children with complex needs, supporting the students individually and in groups with core subjects, engaging with their work and keeping on task with their learning. The role may occasionally have aspects of personal care, supporting students with trips to the bathroom and supporting with life skills.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
To assist the teaching with managing the class as a whole, as well as small groups independently
To work 1:1 with students to help develop their work
To support the general wellbeing of the students in the school
To monitor and evaluate pupils learning under the guidance of the teacher
To assist the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
Personal care for the students

Requirements:
Severe Learning Difficulties and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities experience
Team teach certified ideal but not essential
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
Ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
Have an understanding of children with special needs
Be flexible in approach to education
Resiliency and optimism

To join us and be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need to :
- Have previous experience working with special educational needs pupils
- Level 2 or equivalent childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification as a minimum
- Relevant moving and handling training, and Team Teach is desirable.
