Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Kensington, Primary School

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm

Contract: Long-term, Full-time

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have the dedication and skills to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in their educational journey? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

A thriving primary school located in Kensington, Liverpool, committed to providing exceptional education and support to all students are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team and work with a pupil on a 1:1 basis. You will be supporting a child within a Year 5 class who has complex needs, and can be extremely challenging in terms of behaviour.

Key Responsibilities: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  1. Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD and ADHD.
  2. Assist in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
  3. Create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and development.
  4. Collaborate with classroom teachers and SEN coordinators to adapt and differentiate curriculum materials.
  5. Help students develop essential life skills and social skills.
  6. Monitor and record student progress and behaviour.
  7. Provide emotional support and encouragement to students to build their confidence and self-esteem.

Requirements: To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD and ADHD.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's educational and emotional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or SEN support (desirable but not mandatory)
