Are you a patient, empathetic and inclusive Primary SEN Teaching Assistant?

Do you have experience of supporting pupils with special needs?

About the role:

I am proud to be working with an Ofsted oustanding primary special school in Manchester who are looking for a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to support one of their SEN pupils on a 1:1 basis. Starting ASAP on a full time and long term basis with the potential to turn in to a permanent contract. Pay up to £75/day.

To join us and be successful in this Primary SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:

  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks.
  • Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.

You will be supporting a pupil in Year 5 on a 1:1 basis with Autism and challenging behaviours that are borne out of frustrations with understanding things, poor social interaction skills and sensory triggers. They are verbal but need help improving speech and language even further. You will also need to work with the class teacher and other TAs to manage the whole class as well.

About the school:


The school caters for children who have Autism, Complex Needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities PMLD, Sensory Needs, Hearing & Visual Impairment, Speech and Language Communication Difficulties. Class sizes are no more than 8 pupils all with 1:1 TA support. There is a real family and team atmosphere with everyone mucking in to support one another. They are highly organised and professional and staff give exceptional feedback about management and about working there in general. The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and closely follows P-Scales, Early Years Foundation Stage right through the school.

All pupils have an EHCP for special needs including Autism, Complex Needs, Sensory impairments or Speech & Language Communication Needs. The atmosphere is a superb environment to learn and the children are given every support and resource possible to provide the best education they can for them. The staff are incredibly loyal and proud to work there which makes this a wonderful opportunity to develop skills and passion for SEN and provides a terrific possibility for a successful career. The new Primary SEN Teaching Assistant will need to be a team player and flexible to taking on a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
