Tradewind are proud to be recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant for a special needs school & college in Salford.
To join us and be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:
- Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks.
- Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment or education history and any employment breaks must be explained.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
About the role:
- SEN Teaching Assistant for a special needs school and college in Salford.
- Start date - 19th April.
- Full time and long term with the potential to turn in to a permanent contract.
- Pay up to £75 per day.
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1, 2:1 or small group basis.
- Some training in the one or more of the following areas would be ideal - Moving & Handling, Personal Care, PECS, Makaton, Team Teach, Autism strategies etc.
- Provide emotional, behavioural and learning support as well as attending to pupil's physical needs.
- You will be required to support the class teacher in setting up the room and helping to prepare and deliver any activities.
- Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Care Worker or Support Worker required.

- Lessons centre around communication and language, personal, social and emotional development and the creative arts.
About the pupils:
- Pupils are aged 11-19 and have an EHCP for SEN including Autism, Complex Needs and PMLD.
- Some pupils have speech & language difficulties with many pupils being pre-verbal and therefore use alternative methods to communicate such as PECS, Makaton, BSL and Signalong.
- Many pupils have sensory needs, so environments and learning approach need ot be adapted to prevent triggers and crisis situations.
- Some pupils also have physical needs and will need support in and out of wheelchairs and may use a hoist.
- There are often instances of challenging behaviours so the new SEN Teaching Assistant will need to be resilient and be able to persevere through difficult situations.
- Despite their challenges the children at the school are full of life and fun and it's a fantastic place to build relationships with individuals and see real improvement and progress as a direct result of the support you provide.
