Send Primary Teacher
We are excited to announce an opening for an experienced SEND Teacher to join a warm and supportive autism base, beginning immediately. This is a full-time, long-term position for the entire academic year, with the potential for permanent placement following a successful review.
About the School:
Nestled in the heart of Islington, our autism base provides a nurturing environment for pupils with autism, challenging behaviour, and associated learning disabilities. Attached to a mainstream setting, our well-equipped facility ensures an optimal educational experience, complete with sensory rooms and various tools tailored to the needs of high-functioning autism.
With a maximum of 12 children in the base, each placement is carefully managed by the local authority through a referral process. ARP pupils seamlessly integrate into mainstream classes, participating in day-to-day school life at levels aligned with their individual needs.
Responsibilities as a SEND Primary Teacher:
As a dedicated SEND Primary Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and assessing students with Autism.
- Collaborating with support staff to implement and oversee interventions.
- Supporting behaviour management in accordance with individualised plans.
- Setting and updating targets for children's development.
- Working collaboratively with Speech and Language Therapists to enhance student communication skills.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To thrive in this role, you'll need to:
- Have previous experience working within SEND.
- Possess an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable), and positive professional reference checks.
- Ensure that your CV covers the last 10 years of your employment history where possible.
- Hold the legal right to work in the UK.
