Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on a student's life? Sanza Teaching Agency is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a visually impaired student in 6th Form at a secondary school located in Wanstead, Redbridge.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in empowering and enabling a visually impaired student with mobility, transition, and social interaction challenges. You will be the student's constant companion in every class, providing guidance, support, and additional teaching assistance to ensure they can fully participate in their academic journey. Your presence and dedication will create an inclusive learning environment where the student can thrive and pursue their passions with confidence.
Student Details:
The student is an enthusiastic 6th Former with a love for music, Spanish, and sociology. As a long cane user, they rely on your support to navigate their way around the school and interact confidently with their peers. Your commitment to their success will be instrumental in fostering their independence and enhancing their academic achievements.
Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated support in all academic classes, helping the student access learning materials and fully engage in discussions and activities.
Collaborate with subject teachers to adapt lesson materials and ensure they are accessible to the visually impaired student.
Assist the student during mobility transitions within the school premises, ensuring their safety and confidence.
Encourage social interaction and facilitate the student's involvement in extracurricular activities and events.
Offer one-on-one guidance and tutoring to reinforce concepts covered in class and help the student excel in their studies.
Work closely with the school's inclusion team to implement individualized strategies for the student's educational and personal development.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with visually impaired students or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Knowledge of strategies and tools to support mobility and accessibility.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and school staff.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for enabling the academic success and personal growth of students with diverse needs.
