We collaborate with various schools and Academies in Nottingham city and Nottinghamshire, offering opportunities for both full and part-time SEND Teaching Assistants. Positions range from daily supply to long-term cover roles, providing flexibility to align with your preferences.

Role Overview: As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and fellow professionals to advocate for the learning and development of students with various SEND, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and specific learning difficulties. Your responsibilities will include providing one-on-one and small group support, implementing individualised learning plans, and creating inclusive learning opportunities tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support to students with SEND, both within the classroom and during individual or small group sessions.
  • Contribute to the implementation of individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), incorporating targeted interventions and strategies to facilitate student progress.
  • Foster the social, emotional, and academic development of students, building positive relationships and nurturing independence and self-confidence.
  • Assist students with personal care and mobility requirements, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being are maintained.
  • Collaborate efficiently with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to assess student needs, set targets, and monitor progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, achievements, and notable incidents, actively contributing to ongoing assessment and evaluation of support strategies.
  • Cultivate positive partnerships with parents/carers, providing regular updates on student progress and offering support and guidance as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school setting or alternative educational or care environments.
  • Knowledge of diverse SEND profiles and an understanding of how SEND influences learning and development.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Resilience, patience, and empathy, underscored by a genuine commitment to supporting the individual needs of students with SEND.
  • Preferred but not essential: Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEND (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools).
  • Dedication to continuous professional development and a commitment to reflective practice.
