We are partnering with an outstanding Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Redbridge Borough committed to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment for students facing challenges in mainstream education. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Trade Skills Teacher to join our team and contribute to the success and growth of our students.

Position Overview: As a Trade Skills Teacher, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering high-quality vocational education programs focused on trade skills. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young people and the ability to create an inclusive and motivating learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of students in a PRU setting.
  • Deliver engaging and practical trade skills lessons, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other vocational areas.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and external agencies to address the individual needs of students.
  • Contribute to the development of the trade skills curriculum, ensuring its relevance to students and industry standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is desirable, however, unqualified teachers are more than welcome to apply!
  • Proven experience in teaching trade skills, preferably in a PRU or alternative education setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of trade-related subjects and industry standards.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to the success of all students.
