SEND Teaching Assistant

Barnet, London
This is a full-time role and the salary will be £75-80 per day, depending on experience.

This great school has an an established Headteacher and a great team. The school has a busy and creative atmosphere and is very well resourced.

The role will involve working with a child in Year 1 who will be joining the school in January. He is still awaiting a full diagnosis of his special needs, but he has autism, along with some emotional and behavioural difficulties. His parents take an active role in his education and you will be in regular contact with them, so excellent communication skills are important.
The day will be a balance of SEN work and mainstream TA work and is likely to involve working with him in the mornings in and out of the classroom and then possibly as a general teaching assistant in the afternoon.

Experience of working with children with SEND, especially autism, in a primary setting is essential. The school is seeking someone positive, patient and who is consistent with rewards and sanctions. Whilst the child is verbal, applicants with experience of using PECS and Makaton are welcome.
