The role is due to continue until the end of the academic year in July 2021.

The school is seeking a teaching assistant who has a strong background of working with children with Autism and behavioural difficulties (BED). The role will involve 1:1 support for a child with Autism (ASC). The pupil you will be working with is in Year 2 who works to his own curriculum and the school are trying to integrate him into class wherever possible but sometimes he has days when he finds school life difficult and needs time out doing other things. He can be challenging, so you will need to be patient, firm but fair and he likes to be kept busy but the school want him to be learning too.

You must have experience of working with children/young people with Autism and experience of working with children with speech and language needs would be great as he needs assistance in this area, although he has some speech. Experience with PECS and Makaton would be warmly welcomed.

As you will be working closely with the class teacher and SENDCO and on some occasions external agencies, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. You will see the child's parents every day and provide feedback from the day.

Your hours of work will be 8.30am- 3:45pm with 30 minutes for lunch, with a daily rate of £75-80, depending on experience.

The school is well served by public transport, with parking available.

This will be a great opportunity to become part of a hard-working team in an outstanding primary school. There will be challenges along the way but working closely with the class teacher, Senco and parents, this will also be a rewarding role.
