Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a strong, versatile SENCO to promote Special Education Needs and inclusive learning within an outstanding Secondary School in Birmingham. The role would be start April 2019 however an immediate start is available this will be made into a permanent appointment for the successful applicant.

As the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator), you'll be responsible for some of the most challenging pupils in a school however the challenge at this setting comes more from multiple learning difficulties (as opposed to behavioural difficulties).
The department for education recognises four types of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), in the SEND Code of Practice 2014:
1.- Communication and Interaction
2.- Cognition and Learning
3.- Social, Mental and Emotional Health
4.- Sensory or Physical
You'll not only need a lot of patience, alongside the plethora of skills already required of a teacher, but you'll need to have a drive for education and those with different needs. If you have that passion, to promote those with special educational needs, you'll find this job of incredibly fulfilling.

It would be desirable if you've completed, or would be willing to complete while on the job (where possible), the National Award for Special Educational Needs. Other training, such as counselling, child protection and behaviour, can also be very useful for a job such as this.
Working with fellow teachers and staff, the key responsibilities of this kind of role include:
* Overseeing the day-to-day operation of a school's special education policy
* Co-ordinating provision of policies
** Communicating with parents of children with special educational needs
You'll also work with external agencies including the Local Education Authority's support and psychological services, health and social services and potentially some voluntary organisations.

To join us and be successful in this SENCO role you will need to:
*Hold QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification
*This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
* Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
* You must have the legal right to work in the UK
