We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and passionate Teaching Assistant to join a Wigan-based Primary School from March 2021. We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Teaching Assistant to provide class and lunchtime support for a pupil with autism in the first instance.

Inclusion is at the heart of this appointment and we are looking for a member of staff who believes passionately in the importance of all children being able to access mainstream schooling and a willingness to support a child with emotional and social difficulties.

You would be working under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO but would need to be able to adapt the learning and your questioning in a flexible and responsive way to enable as high a level of inclusion as possible. You will also be required to deliver emotional support and to support this child's sensory needs under the direction of the SENCO and class teacher. We need someone who will help to foster independence and learning for life skills.

Due to the pupil's social and interaction difficulties, we are seeking to ideally appoint a member of staff who has experience of working with children on the autistic spectrum. Candidates who do not have specific learning support qualifications are still welcome to apply as we believe it is about appointing the right person to this role.
