Tradewind Recruitment has a new opportunity available for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join the team at a secondary school in Islington for an urgent start!

  • Start Date: April 22nd
  • Contract: Full-time
  • Working Hours: 8:15 AM - 4.15 PM
  • Salary: £85-95 per day

This role will involve you working with students with a variety of special needs who need additional support in class. We are seeking individuals with Teaching Assistant experience with a great team spirit.

This is a popular, modern school with a great team on board. The school was graded as "good" after their most recent Ofsted inspection and the leadership team are continuously seeking ways to improve further. The school has good transport links and a small car park.

Responsibilities:

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant at this great school you will be working as part of their pastoral team which assists students throughout the school. You will be:

  • Assisting students to access the curriculum, adapting materials and resources as required.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Providing one-on-one support during classroom activities, ensuring students remains engaged and on track.
  • Monitoring and recording students progress, providing feedback to the teaching team.
  • Encouraging social interaction and fostering positive relationships between the students and their peers.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant is desirable.
  • Genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to undergo specific training related to the student's medical needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving requirements of the role.

Ideally be a graduate or have previous experience of working children or young people in a school

Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks

CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
