We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Sports graduate or Sports coach, to work in one of our mainstream secondary schools in Cheltenham as a 'Life Coach'. The role will be working full time on a long term supply basis in a mainstream secondary school, and it involves working with young people who have been excluded from their classes due to emotional and behavioural difficulties.

This academy has a separate department for young people aged between 11 and 16 who find it difficult to learn in a standard mainstream class setting. This could be due to having additional needs (SEN) or social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. This setting offers a more relaxed approach to teaching and learning and also offers the students smaller groups to work in, which makes school like more enjoyable and less stressful for them.

Previous experience of working with young people with EBD/SEMH or in a PRU or mainstream secondary school is preferable. It will be expected that candidates will have good communication skills and appropriate qualifications to be able to meet the high standards that the school has. It is also of utmost importance that you can relate and build good and trusting relationships with these students.

We are looking for someone who has a creative and innovative approach to be able to understand and support these young people and to re-engage disaffected learners in education and overcome barriers to learning.
The successful candidate will have the ability to manage small groups of young people (no more than 20 students) and to assist them with their learning. A good level of Maths and English is essential. All core subjects will be taught throughout the day including PE.

To join us and be successful in this role as a life coach, you will need to have either or all of the below:

*Hold A Sports coaching degree or equivalent Sports qualification.
*Have Special Educational Needs (SEN) knowledge and experience working with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH); although not essential.
*A strong desire to have an impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.
*Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks.
*Have a CV covering at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained.
*Have the legal right to work in the UK.
