Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for a confident Teaching assistant, to work for an Alternative Provision catering for disengaged students who are Secondary ages in Bath. The role will be full-time and long term and it involve working with children and young adults with behavioural issues.

The AEP we work with cater for Secondary aged pupils and require an experienced Teaching assistant that can manage challenging behaviour and support the students academically. The ability to engage and build rapport with the pupils, using your understanding of Mental Health and challenging behaviour is essential. Ideal candidate will have a person-centred approach, and will be a dynamic, forward thinking and pro-active team player, with passion and commitment to holistically supporting vulnerable students in developing their independence and vocational skills. If you are a sports coach and play rugby and have active interest in martial arts, football this will be highly advantageous. The students have active interest in martial arts, Rugby, football and the ability to engage with them in regard to these subjects are a must.

Monitor students learning, social, emotional and behavioural progress against targets and report to the teachers of any changes.
Be aware of Safeguarding and Behaviour policies of the settings you work in and adhere to the policies.

* Have experience of working with challenging students
* Have active interest in sports.
*Have Special Educational Needs (SEN) knowledge and experience working with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH); although not essential.
*A strong desire to have an impact on the lives of vulnerable young people
*Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
*Have a CV covering at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
*Have the legal right to work in the UK
