Tradewind are currently recruiting for a hardworking and experienced support worker to work in Wigan. The role is for a full academic year starting in 2nd November 2020 until March 2021 however it may continue until July 2021 dependent on funding with the potential of going permanent.

We are recruiting for a support worker for a school situated on the outskirts of Wigan. The SEMH School aims to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning so that all children can achieve their academic potential. They ensure that they foster and develop the social and emotional well-being of their children as well as concentrating on developing the potential of their staff. Pay starts from £9.77 per hour dependent on experience up to £12 per hour. The school also has a large onsite staff parking with close links to the M6 and a bus stop 5 minutes' walk from the school.

The school has students with a wide range of with challenging behaviour and Social and Emotional behavioural difficulties. As a support worker you will be supporting on a 1-2-1 with a year 8 pupil in the morning and in the afternoon, you will be supporting within the Year 8. You will be required to support the pupils in the class and also deliver work with the pupil outside the class where you will be required to deliver the work that's been set.

After visiting the school, I was really impressed with the state-of-the-art facilities with interactive whiteboards and iPads in all the classroom. This school also encourages and healthy and active approach to everyday school life.

As a support worker, you will have the support of a cohesive and committed Support Team and SLT. Plus, the successful support worker you will be provided with a comprehensive induction package and a wide range of CPD opportunities for all staff. You also are offered a lunch within school with no cost.

Additionally, while walking round the school the behaviour of the pupils was settled and had such a warm family feeling and pupils polite and welcoming.

To join us and be successful in this support worker role you will need to:
Essentials:
*Previous experience working with challenging behaviours
*Full commitment to the young person
*Good sickness record
*Calm in a crisis
*Good use of de-escalation strategies (you will be asked for an example at interview)
*This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
*Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
*You must have the legal right to work in the UK

Desirables
*Experience working within Youth Centres
*Experience working with venerable young people
*Familiar with overly sexualised behaviours
*School based experience
*Team Teach Trained (desirable not essential as training can be provided)
