Tradewind Recruitment are looking to appoint a dynamic Teacher of Design Technology for a school where staff are not simply teachers - they are passionate advocates for their subject and an invaluable link between education and industry. This is a permanent, full-time appointment beginning in September 2021.

Located near Croydon, this is a centre of Excellence in Science, Engineering and Computing/IT. A specialist academy teaching students aged 11-18 years old, the school's aim is to ensure that young people who are passionate about STEM have opportunities to realise their maximum potential. Initially opening as a 14-18 school, they took their first Year 7 cohort in September 2018. The school are well regarded in the local area and is over-subscribed for entry.

Working at this school will be an exciting and challenging chapter in the career of any teacher. Along with the responsibilities associated with the position, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping to form the culture, ethos and working practices of the Academy at every level. At their last OFSTED inspection they were graded as Good overall with Outstanding for the Sixth Form.

The Design and Technology Department is a thriving, innovative and very well-resourced Department which offers Design & Technology, Product Design and Graphic Communication.

The successful candidate will:

  • Ideally be a Product Design or Resistant Materials specialist
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner and have experience in teaching the new OCR specifications at both A level and GCSE
  • Be confident teaching across the spectrum of Design & Technology including Textiles and Electronics
  • Be committed to the development of an engaging curriculum
  • Have the ability and creativity to inspire and support staff and pupils

To apply for this role you will:

  • Be a Teacher of Design Technology with excellent knowledge of the curriculum.
  • Have QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification.

This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks. Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained. You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
