Are you an aspiring Teacher of the Deaf, SEN Teacher looking for a SEN BSL Teaching post or a Mainstream Primary teacher looking to change things up in your career?
If so, can you support deaf pupils academically?
Do you hold qualifications in British Sign Language? Or are you interested in exploring the opportunity to train as a Teacher of the Deaf?
About the Role:
To work in an HI Provision, with up to 11 pupils across KS2. The provision, part of a federation, is located on a mainstream and is an OFSTED rated Outstanding Primary school. You will be teaching students within the group with moderate to profound levels of deafness both in the unit and in the school. This role is ideal for a teacher who has learnt BSL (ideally level 2 as a minimum) and would really love to work towards being a TOD.
If you are proficient in BSL, SEN experienced and are hoping to secure this type of role:
Post for Aspiring Teacher of the Deaf or qualified teacher of the deaf
Ideally have achieved a minimum of Level 2 British Sign Language qualification
Have a post graduate level teaching qualification
Have acquired or be willing to work towards a mandatory qualification for Deaf Education
Be confident in a total communication approach, using a wide range of communication strategies
Have strong curriculum and subject knowledge, including Literacy, Numeracy and Science
Support Hearing Impaired students to successfully learn and grow in a mainstream school environment, building confidence and essential life skills
Deaf children work and play alongside their hearing peers and the mainstream site also has classes with acoustic tiling to aid listening conditions. As much as possible, children are supported in mainstream classes with a Radio Aid system. When required, children are supported in the centre by specialists in the areas of speech therapy, literacy, numeracy and other areas if needed.

Hold an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
