We are currently looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant with Autism Experience to work at one of our Primary schools in Bristol.

Our client school is looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant with experience of supporting young people in Primary phases on the Autistic spectrum from this term. This job might be suitable for you if you have previously supported young people with Autism in Early Years. The pupil is currently in KS2 but learning in Early Years levels.

Our school is currently looking to consider candidates with both practical and theoretical understanding of the spectrum. The ability to manage challenging behaviour is required however not necessary depending on the circumstances of the young person. Most of the work will involve supporting the pupil in Year 5 on a 1:1 basis and enabling learning and behavioural and communication development. The ability to understand the condition and eagerness to come up with effective behavioural strategies will be key to build a rapport with the student.

This role might be ideal for you if:

-You worked with young people/young adults on the Autistic Spectrum.
-You have previously worked within an Education/Childcare/Alternative Education setting with KS1 students.
-You are available for work full-time.
-You have a flexible approach and have got understanding of Autism and use of MAKATON/PECS
-You are looking for a long-term Teaching Assistant position.
-You currently reside in Bristol or can commute/relocate within a reasonable amount of time. School is accessible with car.

Highly Desirable:

-Special Educational Needs Experience
-Training in Makaton, PECS and Autism.

*Must have SEN & Primary experience

* You must have the legal right to work in the UK
